Microsoft introduces Radial Menus in Windows 8’s Modern UI Office Apps
Modern UI (Metro Style earlier) apps are being developed day by day by Microsoft Corporation, and Windows 8 developers all over the world. In order to use Microsoft Office 2013 in Windows 8 as an app Microsoft already taken first step by releasing OneNote MX for Windows 8.
We all used Office 2007, Office 2010, and Office 2013 Preview & Windows 8 and there is one thing which is common in all these products which is Ribbon UI. But in Windows 8 apps concept of Ribbon UI has been replaced by Radial Menus. While using Windows 8 based small tablets it’s not possible to have Ribbon UI as it’ll occupy the whole display so Radial Menus are introduced.
Radial Menu helps you a lot as it’ll bring all your tools at your fingertips. Radial Menu is always there when you are working but when you need any tool just click or tap on the radial menu, the commands you need will appear.
While using Radial Menu you just need to swipe your finger out for the center of it or tap on any arrows which are available around the menu. Arrows shows that there are more options of that particular command. One swipe will bring more options of that particular command.
Radial Menu keeps on changing depending on what you are doing. In case you are typing you’ll see:
When you are working with images then in that case you’ll see:
Now you have to just tap on these menus to bring out the complete Radial Menu which is having further commands. You have to swipe in the direction of the command for applying its effect or you can choose for arrows on the direction for more options.
Just try the app by downloading it and feel the magic of touch and type with Radial Menu in Windows 8. Download OneNote MX for Windows 8.
