Windows 8.1 is coming to Windows 8 as a free update with Blue as its official name

Windows 8 was released in 2012 and easily crossed 40 Million users with build number and now Microsoft has confirmed that the successor is on the way. Windows 8.1 will be the upcoming update for Windows 8. Windows 8.1 is officially called as ‘Blue’ which was even leaked few weeks ago on web. If we talk about current status of Windows 8 then it already reached desktops, laptops, convertibles and tablets. With more that 70,000 apps in the Windows Store, progress of Windows 8 is remarkable.

Tami Reller, Windows CFO announced the official free update of Windows 8 that is Windows 8.1, which will be coming later this year via Windows update. At JP Morgan Technology, Media & Telecom Conference in Boston it was confirmed that a public preview of Windows 8.1 will be seen June 26 onwards. Windows 8.1 preview will be available for Windows 8 and Windows RT. In this update Microsoft will cover the Start Screen and its improvement along-with a big push towards 7- and 8- inch Windows-powered devices.
